My Uber experiance

Uber Technologies Inc. is an American international transportation network company headquartered in San Francisco, California. The company develops, markets and operates the Uber mobile app, which allows consumers with smartphones to submit a trip request which is then routed to Uber drivers who use their own cars.^[By May 28, 2015, the service was available in 58 countries and 300 cities worldwide and is one of the fastest growing businesses at the moment without owning a single vehicle.

Uber was founded as "UberCab" by Travis Kalanick and Garrett Camp in 2009 and the app was released the following June. Beginning in 2012, Uber expanded internationally. In 2014, it experimented with carpooling features and made other updates. By mid-2015, Uber was estimated to be worth $50B. That is amazing by anyone's standards.

Uber is also a safe a secure way to travel taking out the administration of payments by using your credit card which is already pre-loaded on their system. It is super affordable and the drivers are all trained, screened and tested before they are put on the road.

With all this hype I just had to try it out and so I did and I was not disappointed.

The App is easy to use and in 3 easy steps you have a driver at your door:

1. First you choose which vehicle you want
Uber X-the normal Sedan
Uber Black-The more classy choice (Mercs, BMW and AUDI)
Uber Van-for a crowd

2. Next you put in where you want to go and then press
"GET FARE ESTIMATE". Once you have done that an estimate will pop up

3. If you happy with your estimate press "REQUEST DRIVER". Then a drivers photo and car registration details will pop up on your screen, so you can look out for your vehicle.

It took my driver 6 minutes to get to me and I didn't have to wait a second longer. When he arrived he parked the car and then put my laptop bag in the boot and opened the door for me. When last did a man open a door for me?? lol.

The drive was very calming to say the least. We drove in peak traffic and he was so diligent and meticulous keeping a safe following distance and speed.

Around 45 minutes later we landed at my location where he opened my door again, thanked me for using Uber and hope I enjoyed my drive home. I was impressed. He then took out my bag and handed it to me.

With such a pleasant experience who will not go back?

Moments after he had left I received my invoice from Uber with my trip being far less than what I was quoted for. I was also asked to rate my Uber experience-needless to say I only had good things to say about my chauffeur.

Uber has really revolutionised transport especially in South Africa where we don't take taxi cabs because they are so expensive. I would rather take a bus, a train and walk rather than pay their exorbitant fees. Now there is Uber which makes it affordable for all us to drive in style.
