The latest craze at the moment is the waist trainer so I thought I would do some research to keep you all in the know. Kim and her sister Chloe set the trend with this idea of bringing back the corset and making it work once again. Although there are plenty of sceptics who say that it cannot possibly tone you down in any way, there is also a lot of proven evidence to support the exact opposite.
I don't think that either version is wrong since everybody's bodies react different to certain stimulants. Some people take longer to loose weight than others and some tone faster than others or don't see results at all. My best advice would be to try it for yourself. Be open minded. The nice thing about the waist trainer is that it doubles up as a tummy-tucker, so if it does nothing to slim your waist down, you can still use it for those body hugging outfit whenever you need to so its no a complete waste of time (excuse the pun).
The waist trainer is a like a corset that you wrap around your tummy area. It should fit just under your boobies and then go all the way down to your crotch line, so its absolutely past your "love handles". It must be nice and tight but you must be able to breathe while wearing it.
The function of the waist trainer is to :
1. Correct your posture
2. Train your muscles
3. Push your tummy back
4. Gradual process of weight reduction
The investment is not monumental, you looking at worse R250 for a good quality waist trainer but I have see cheaper almost everywhere, mostly Chinese shops. So shop around first and see what is out there. Its also available in a lot of different types of fabric. Choose a fabric that doesn't stretch too much, you want it nice and tight and also look at the pins. When you wrap it around yourself you should access the first set of pins and then as your waist gets smaller you will pin it to the second and then to the last.
They said for best results it should be worn for at least 8 hours a day for 5 days a week. I normally just wear it under my work clothes and take it off in the evenings when I get home. I wouldn't say that its very comfortable, you do feel a bit restrained. But its not the worst discomfort either. No pain no gain. Don't got to the bus stop if you ain't getting on the Bus!
It's always good to drink lots of water when wearing the waist trainer because you do perspire a lot as well.
I wish you all the best.
Happy Fashion!
