Event: Clicks Cosmo Covergirl

On Saturday I was invited to the Annual Clicks Cosmo Covergirl Event which was held at Raddison Blue Hotel from 09h00 in the morning.

Upon arrival we were all issued with a notepad to take some notes, a pen and a lanyard detailing the days events and series of treatments we were going to be spoilt with. The first thought that went through my mind was how incredibly organised it was and how friendly and inviting the hosts were. I really felt welcomed and although I was there solo, I did not feel lonely at all.

As I walked into the foyer I was greeted with the most incredible breakfast spread I have seen in a long time. There were canapés galore as well as croissants, fresh fruit and delicious yoghurt and muesli cups. To drink there was every tea imaginable and fresh fruit juice and of course Coffee!!

I hardly had a chance to take it all in when we were called into the auditorium for the presentation to begin.

The introduction and history of Cosmopolitan magazine was done by Cathy Lund who is the Editor of Cosmo magazine. She gave us the history of the Cosmo Covers and how the covergirls were chosen through the ages. What is so amazing is that no matter which era it was, the 80's , 90's or the naughties....lol! What all the covergirls have in common is their attitude on the covers.
They are all fierce!! They all look in-control with lots of attitude and not shy, timid and humble! It makes you think....

The next part was taking us through how to buy make-up and little black dress do's and don'ts. There was also a special presentation from Air-Optiix who gave us all free contact lenses!!

After all the presentations we were taken upstairs in groups and that's where all the fun began....

We were divided into 2 groups. The first group went and had their hair done and Group 2 went straight to nails. I was in Group 2 so I went and had my nails done.

After nails I decided to choose my contact lenses. I used to wear contact lenses until I had Laser surgery in 2008. So I am quite familiar with it. I chose a grey coloured lens which looked absolutely amazing. It wasn't too prominent but it looked like it could be my natural eye colour. It took my own mother a while when I went home to notice my eye colour had changed, so I knew I didn't choose something which people would stop and stare at, but at the same time it looked gorgeous.

The next step was to do my BMI and skin care. My BMI indicated that I am 3 kilo's over weight (tell me something I don't know) which I was expecting because winter is the death of me. All I ever do is eat cake and chips in bed. I love comfort food and pastas in winter, and although I do exercise, its hardly enough for the calories I take in...lol!! I don't stand a chance!! But hey, I'm only human so I'm really not going to kill myself - when Spring comes back I'll naturally cut down, but in the mean time-Don't judge!!lol

After the BMI test I went through to Skincare where the new range of Sorbet products were explained to me. The nice thing about the products is that it caters for dry skin, whereas most skincare products focus on oily skin. The range is completely inexpensive and oh so reasonable. I was actually shocked that you could get Salon Products at that  price. It also has a complete range, so you can get everything from facial wipes to toners. Its available for all ages as well, so even my daughter, who is 12, can use it, its that mild and eco-friendly. The great thing about it is that its available at all Clicks stores, so you don't have to actually search for a Sorbet branch to top up.

This season BIG HAIR is in and that's what they pretty much kept in mind when they did my hair-BIG HAIR. I must say when I first saw it I wanted to cry...it was HUGE, but after a while I got used to it and it does look awesome.

When it comes to being a Cosmo Covergirl, your make-up needs to be very OTT and Bold. So we are talking bright lips, dark eye brow and dramatic eyes. Instead of the usual red lipstick I went for a Hot pink and with dark eyes.

Then the last part of the program was taking the pictures. Just to help us along they brought the beautiful and talented Joelle Kayembe, who is a professional model. She told us how to pose and pout and helped us to chose the best photo to put on our covers. She was so friendly and down to earth and just an overall team player. I really enjoyed my time with her.

The day just went by so quickly before you knew it it was lunch time and Cosmo and Clicks did not disappoint. Again there was a terrific buffet before us, to keep us indulged while everyone was getting their pictures done. I also made some fantastic new friends and BFF's and we laughed and spoke about everything from giving birth to nail preferences. Its amazing how as woman we have all gone through so much but intrinsically we all the same and want the same things in life, and that's what I love about sharing stories, its that you learn that you do fit in, in this mess we call life.

Thank you so much to Clicks and Heiress for the invitation!! Lets do it all over again next year!!!
