No Its NOT my job

I once read  that in order to be successful you must do what nobody else is willing to do, go the extra mile or else you just ordinary and who wants to be ordinary? Right?

But what happens when you are virtually the "Kippy" around the office? Everyone comes to you with their last minute deadlines, conferences and bookings and you just have to make it happen. You are known as ""The Fixer" and everybody's problem is laid down at your doorstep except you are not Olivia Pope so you don't have The President and the Bodyguard fighting over you, you get ignored once you done what is asked of you and thrown aside in your corner.

Nobody is interested that you went over and above what your responsibilities are and sacrificed your own time to work towards the greater vision and mission of your company. Instead, you are over looked for promotion and asked to assist the "new guys". What do you do when you feel "used"? When you have given so much of yourself that your tank is now empty?

Well I can tell you what I would do....ONLY MY JOB!! and that's what most of us do, well either that or we quit! When we faced with that kind of challenge its only natural for us to just say-its not my job and I'm  not doing anything more than I'm supposed to because nobody is going to recognise it anyway so why should I? and so we withdraw ourselves from the competition called life. We isolate ourselves to protect our ego, cause lets be honest it is a bit of a knock to your ego when we are not promoted. We sit in the corners we are kicked to and say to ourselves that we are doing the right thing, we made the right decision for ourselves to spare ourselves the heartache.

I was in that place. I mustn't lie. My ego was bruised and my heart broken. I went to work doing the bare minimum, justifying my actions as I went along. Then one morning I heard this sermon and it was truly a word from God. It said-God sees what you do at work. You might think that no one saw your strife, your struggle, God saw. You might not think anyone saw other people taking credit for your ideas or you training your colleagues or helping where you shouldn't but God sees. He sees everything and that's why you will be promoted because promotion comes from the Lord and nowhere else. Maybe it wont be the promotion you were praying for but its the one that will take you into the next level of your destiny.

And while you were helping out and working late nights you were filling your resume with all the experience you will need for your new position, which God has already picked out for you. So all those things which you did over and above your normal duties, those are the things you can now add to your resume. So you didn't know it but God was grooming you all along. How awesome is that?

Once I heard that sermon it changed my attitude and my life. Now I know that what I do is leading up to something great. I might not see it right now, and no none is praising me for it, but that's fine, as long as know God sees my effort and I am not used, I will continue to work my fingers to the bone because I will never settle for just being ordinary. I aspire to greatness.

So when you see a colleague who has been through this challenge please tell them that God notices their efforts and they should continue doing the great work they are doing, don't give up or give in, your promotion is on its way.

Today I decided to switch it up a bit.
