Don't put Valentines day in a box

Yesterday while having supper with my family my pudding asked me "Mummy would you please be my Valentine? "that question took me completely by surprise. She continued by saying that Valentines Day is a day of love so she does not need a husband to have a Valentines Day when I love her just as much. Isn't she just the sweetest thing ever? yah but I saw right through that when I asked what are my duties as her Valentine and she said very innocently-"Buy me a toy!!" I then declined and told her to ask her father....lol.

Everywhere on Facebook and Twitter  I keep seeing this messages that say - "don't be alone for Valentines day...online dating.." etc. etc.. The world has put Valentines Day into this box which says-FOR COUPLES ONLY and its not!! And why should it be. Why cant it be for ordinary people who love each other ? Why cant my daughter be my Valentine or one of my friends? Is it not a day for showing people how much you love them, or is this day only for love driven by lust? I'm sure that's what advertisers want people to believe so they can sell more stuff. What started out as a beautiful tradition is now spoilt by capitalists.

But I will not give in and I will not let the masses spoil it for me. This Valentines Day I plan to celebrate my love for my family and friends. I will not conform to the ridiculous idea that its only for lovers. And you know what? I will take up Priyanka on her offer, I will be her Valentine and buy her that toy so one day she wont have the idea that Valentines day is for couples only and she will teach my grandchildren the same ideals. That way the true meaning will never die. I hope you will also do the same.

To celebrate my love for my readers I will be giving away a box of Ferrero Roche to one lucky Valentine. All you have to do is answer this simple question, and share the Facebook post which features todays story.

Question:
What is my pet name for my daughter?

Winner will be announced on Monday.
Good Luck.
