The Christmas rush has really swept in and I find myself oddly relaxed this season because of my planning skills. I have already done everything I needed to do and I can safely say I was super bored this weekend with very little to do while I find my peers rushing about. I was a bit jealous in fact of their busy-ness! Lol.
Today I wore a traditional green dress which I bought at Marabastad. I was forced to wear this dress since I have already packed for the first and second round of my holidays so the pickings are slim and I am forcing myself to wear all my clothes at least twice...so this dress was next in line. My mom forced me to buy this dress for an occasion I had that's why I got it. The style is okay and the fit is excellent but you all know I don't like green too much....so the colour is not my favourite. But let me tell you something ....There is not a human or dog that I can walk passed that won't turn and look at this dress and compliment me. Other people find this dress the bomb dot com. People will actually stop me and ask where I bought it from and we all know how hard it is for a woman to do that ...lol. It happened the first time I wore it and again the second. It is a magnet for attention.
And it made me think about this part in the Hercules movie I watched...The one with the Rock. Where the king tells Hercules "it doesn't matter what you think about yourself. It matters what the people think you are" You see Hercules was explaining to the king that he is not the son of Zeus and he is unsure of himself. Then the king told him that. So I just thought to myself. Here I am. Wearing possibly a gorgeous dress. Getting complemented like a Queen. Yet I don't even like the dress. You see my perception of the dress Is clouded by the colour of the dress. Whereas other people can look passed that and see it for what it is. A beautiful dress.
So the lesson here is that the world's perception is far greater than your own because you might be short sighted or you might feel that it can't be done, but others may differ. People sometimes see in us what we cannot because our perception of ourselves might be clouded by insecurities or low self-esteem. There are many ways we put ourselves down and dont realise it.
The influence of the world can cause you to do great things, just like Hercules. But first you have to believe that the dress you are wearing Is the most gorgeous dress ever!!!
Happy fashion and happy holidays everyone!
