I once watched this movie and it this guy asked his friend - so when did you take yourself out of the competition ? And I was like ...wow that is so powerful!! So many of us are actually freaking good at what we do, we know our jobs backwards , fowards and even side wards. If there was an exam to be written on the duties and possible complications of our daily jobs we would pass with honours and a bursary...lol. But why are some of us not winning any Nobel Prizes? Because we take ourselves out of the competition.
Maybe it wasn't intentional but rather just something that happened over the many years of working, but for others it was due to a range of disappointments and lack of encouragement. Maybe you were passed up for promotion, or you feel your work is not valued or there is always someone undermining you and you say to yourself it's not worth it anymore. Why should you break your back and take the ish when nobody can even acknowledge what you doing, let alone reward you for your hard work? Now that my sisters, is taking yourself out of the competition.
We all feel like that some time or the other but never ever take yourself out of the running. I know it's hard I've been there as well. I've had days when going to work was like was pulling out teeth. Lol. But you have to get back on that horse and tell yourself nothing will shake you. You are here and while you are here you are going to be the best at your job no matter what. Cause when you have that attitude you are setting a standard for yourself but others see it as well...They see how hard working and diligent you are and they see success. They don't know the turmoil in your head they just see you bringing your A Game and they like wow she is so good at what she does....and what you unintentionally do is inspire those around you to also be better. You create work ethic.
Number two. When you are setting that standard you are challenging yourself. Which means that you are teaching yourself perseverance and patience that while you are waiting for this situation to change you are going to work it and make it work for you.
Number three. Hard work never goes un-noticed. You might not reap the benefits where you are right now but for where you are going....you already awesome.
So be the best you possible and don't let anyone or anything take you out of the competition. Cause life is a competition you either going to make it or you going to lag behind. Change your attitude. Be a winner. If you are a street sweeper . Be the best street sweeper ever. Take pride in your job no matter what it is. If you can conquer the small things then big things can line up at your doorstep as well.
I was listening to TD Jakes and he said- God can't make you rich if you can't count money? How will you know you rich ? So equally, your struggle sets you up for promotion. The bigger the struggle the greater the promotion. Just make sure you do the work to get there.
So my clothes today...
