Event: Festival of India

Yesterday I was fortunate enough to be invited to the inauguration of  Paintings on the monuments of India at the Distong National Museum of Cultural History.

It was a collaboration with the High Commission of India and The Department of Arts and Culture, however this event is part of many events which the High Commission is having as part of their Festival of India which is taking place during this month.

The event was to inaugurate the paintings of world famous Indian artist Kashinath Das who gave us some background on the paintings.

The Charminar located in Hydrabad, India was built in 1591 CE. The meaning of the name translates to "Four Towers".

The Chairminar Gate. This is one of the outstanding landmarks of the Islamic Qutub Shahi Kings of the 16th Century.

It was beautiful event which also had a 30 minute presentation/movie which took us through the different stages of the Bollywood eras. It is just amazing how much it has grown. Today Bollywood is the biggest producer of movies worldwide. Producing 1000 movies a year. That is huge.

And now the Clothes...

For the event I decided to wear a Khosi Nkosi hi-lo dress. Because of the weather I put a black polar neck underneath and it looked great, actually better than I thought it would. The scarf I bought at Edgars and the shoes are from Legit.

Also at the event was Ashwairiya Rai, Amitah Buchan and Shah Ruhk Khan!!! Check out my selfies....

We were also serenaded by beautiful classical indian music while browsing through the painting and exhibits.
