I could not believe my luck when I won two tickets to the You Spectacular Awards 2014 from Isidingo!! I usually enter all these competitions and never win, but because I'm an eternal optimist I continue to enter and see it paid off. I'm starting to think it's a game of odds-the more competitions you enter the greater your chances of winning...I don't know?
The event was amazing. Everyone was dressed to the nines-I have never seen so many beautiful people all in one place at the same time, obviously I need to get out more often. It was just so glamourous, and let's talk celebs-OMG, there were sooo many from everyone that's current and trending to those who have dimmed out of the spotlight. For me, the Best Dressed was Gert Johan Coetzee. He just looked amazing in a pale blue three piece with a bit of bling and that hair...oh gosh, he's just got it together. There were a few nice frocks but nothing that particularly stood out for me.
The host was Anne Hirsh who was fantastic she was just hilarious with her dry wit and sarcasm, she just did a great job. The only disappointing part of the show was that most people who had won awards wasn't there to accept, but Anne was quick to fill in the gaps in the show!! Very disappointing for me was that even Gareth Cliff was a no show and my kids were like "don't come home without a photo with GC"', so sadly I had to disappoint them. Not cool. There was a comment made that because Alex Jay was there GC wouldn't come...I just don't see GC being intimidated by anyone, but I am not in the know.
After the show there was....FOOD!!! An entire range of pastas and assorted breads with grilled vegetables. Not very appetising but the dessert was better. And I wasn't surprised to find that no one eats dessert!! My friend and I were probably one of the few people that actually had chocolate mousse cake and fruit. wait scrap that, behind us was Pam Andrews, with that banging body-how does she do it?? The dessert buffet was almost untouched. So now you know the sacrifices celebs must make to maintain those sexy bodies..
The friendliest celeb there was Simba Mhere from Top Billing. OMG he's such a sweetheart, my friend asked him for a picture and he told her he just has to attend to something and he will be back in 10 minutes. We both thought he was blowing us off and weren't too impressed until he DID come back after 10 minutes, cap in hand, apologising profusely and explaining to us what he was doing! Isn''t he just the best? I was just so taken. He really left a good impression on us. Boity was also such a winner after I tried for 5 minutes to get my camera working to take a photo she just said-its fine these things happen and waited for me to get myself together. Now that's patience cause I am soooo clumsy. I really need to work on my camera skills.
The person I was most excited to meet was Gert Johan Coetzee who is one of the best designers ever. his dresses are like masterpieces. One day I will have an original in my cupboard. So after mustering up all the courage I possibly could I went up to him. He thought I was a designer-isn't he sweet? Highlight of my night!!
My dress I designed myself and mother sowed it for me in TWO DAYS!!! I absolutely love it to bits. I wanted something like East meets West, and I think it came out beautifully. The earrings are from Hub Stores and the gorgous shoes are from YDE. The bag I bought from Ooh La la.
All in all it was such a good experience and I had such a fantastic time. Thanks again to Isidingo for making it happen for me, my friendoh Noluthando Masuku for accompanying me and my mum for the gorgeous dress. I hope I will be invited again next year!!
