Last year I was approached by a colleague of mine Nokuthula Zuma, who was collecting dresses for the Matriculants in her home town who could not afford it. I was so inspired I immediately started spreading the word for this good cause and dug out a whole lot of stuff for her from my closet.
Matric Balls are almost like a "right of passage" it signifies for many young woman not only an evening of glits and glamour, but also the end of their schooling careers and their introduction into the real world. No matter what, I am yet to meet a Matriculant that was not excited about her matric farewell or did not wonder what she was going to wear.
This year I wanted to continue what Nokuthula Zuma has started. I wanted to make just one Matriculant happy and give her all the glits and glamour of that one special evening, and what better way than giving away my emerald gown I wore for the YOU spectacular!!
During the weekend I listened to a sermon by Joel Osteen who said that there are millions of people waiting for a miracle and YOU can be that miracle. Some people pray for a lift to work, or a hot meal or even just an outfit for an interview. And it just inspired me so much. So today I would like to be someone's miracle.
